New Guy to the forums
My name is Matt, I'm from upstate NY. Hello Everyone
New to the forums but not new to Mustangs....
I'm 21 andhave had 4 stangs todate
My story goes like this:
1st car was a 95 base laser red 3.8 auto, no options thatI got wrecked from my older sister for $500. Looking back it was an awful car and extremely slow, but at 16 a minivan would have been cool so I was in heaven. I immediately fell for the stang and started fixing it. I repaired it, put intake, exhaust, springs, gears, and 17 gt wheels on it. It looked cool, but after driving it a few month got an itch for something thatwould back up the looks and the name.
When I got a better job, I sold the above stang and bought a mint stock94Performance Red Mustang GT 5.0 HO w/ a T5. It was quick, but I still wanted more. I put bbk headers, flowmaster exhaust, and intake on it. I then put cobra R 17" wheels, cobra brakes, an eatonposi unit, and a short shifter. I wanted more so Itore the motor down, didforged rods, forged pistons, a main end gurdle, gt40heads, ablower cam, and a powerdyne supercharger running at 9psi. This was good for almost 380hp at the wheels, real low 13's,and was my favorite car to date. Total sleeper. Being 18 at the time....insurance on a red V8 stang, along with gas prices, and driving itthrough the winterwas proving too much...with thehours I was working, it seemed the only time I drove it was to school and home from work. I sadly sold the car for a reliable fuel efficient sebring??
With the money I was saving I started my next project. A 94 base Mustang rolling chasis. With a shot body, I went to town on a body kit, hood, and fresh canary yellow paintjob. Iended up buying a rolled95 5.0 Mustang Convertible off ebay to make the transformation. I took the 5.0, T5,cooling, harness, suspension, brakes, and 8.8 rear. I decided to build it naturally aspirated this time. With somegreat heads, a stongcam, high compression, and nearly every easybolt-on in the bookthe stang was good for 330hp at the rear wheels andmid 13's. With v6 insurance rate it was a bit easier, butwhen it came time to leave for college it became time for something more practical. I sold the car the summer of my senior year
I couldn't take not driving so freshmen Year in college, I beganlooking for a decently quick, goodhandling, fwd (NY winters), fuel efficientdomestic tuner car whichled me to buya GM buy-back 2004 Saturn Ion Redline with the 2.0 Supercharged LSJ. I've done a few mods the last 3 years bringing the car to260fwhp, high 13's,nice handling, and looks.
Anyway, I just graduatedin May....a few months into my first job as aMechanical Engineer and I have begun looking for my next Mustang. I joined the forums to start researching to build a quick, sleek, and well mannered S197 5spd GT. I’ll probably looked for a wrecked or damage one since I’ll be modifying it anyway….
Thanks, Matt
