Default can someone explain to me

i like to think logically especially when i spend my money. can someone please explain to me how a TB spacer will increase power? because i just don't see (other than a dry shot injection of nitrous through it)how it can be benificial. LOL i can't just push the "I believe it button" i need an explanation as to how it manipulates air flow to increase HP. Ive always seen it as a waste of money. It basically boils down to physics i guess which i feel that i am somewhat proficient at but...</P>

</P>

i cant see how a .5in space between the TB or the plenum and manifold will gimme more juice! w/o nitrous of course</P><edited><editID>crimson tide</editID><editDate>37904.1484722222</editDate></edited>

Throttle body spacers are used to either taper a larger throttle body to a stock intake or to separate the two just enough to keep them from transferring heat (both run cooler) and to straighten out excessive turbulance. The idea is that cooler air is denser and the air will also be smoother.</P>

This is, of course, how it is marketed. Most people claim no performance gains other than their cars seem to run stronger for a longer period of time (after racing you will usually get slower the longer you run unless you cool down for a while), in addition to better throttle response.</P>

I have never used one, but this is what they're supposed to do.</P>

hmm i can understand how one might think a spacer would isolate unit temperatures however in the 4.6 SOHC the lower intake manifold is plastic anyway so it wouldn't conduct heat very well also, the efficiency of the unit with regard to the heat issue is not all that great (you would think) as metal (which is primarily what they are) whether its aluminum or steel would transfer heat directly to the attached component just as well. LOL anyway i dont know that i will be spending on any of those in the near future. </P>

however i do see how they could be beneficial in tapering off a larger T/B</P>
