question about leasing a new mustang GT
***EDIT:****
I corrected the residual numbers...I was unaware that Ford assumes 15k per year on the base rates..So if you take 12k per year you get a 2% bump on the residual******
I am new to this forum however I am certainly not new to the mustang world. I have owned a total of 13 fox body mustangs and I also had a 96 cobra. After too many tickets I was forced to drive a 98 taurus for a while, then I got an Acura RSX-S just because I needed a reliable inexpensive daily driver that would be fun and good on gas and that fit the bill...Then in October of 2006 I got the 2007 BMW 335i coupe twin turbo...which was an absolute blast to drive...I totalled it this past december when some A$$ Hole ran a stop sign and sent me into a tree..
I am looking into getting a new Mustang GT because I really do miss mustangs, and I would also like to lower my monthly nut a little bit with a kid on the way.
My question is does anyone know what the current lease rates are on the 2008 Mustang GT's?
I saw on one website (although I do not know how accurate it is or remember the website) that MF and residual are as follows.
24 month 12k Miles: Money Factor= .00271 Residual=71%
36 month 12k Miles: Money Factor= .00271 Residual=61%
So based on those numbers, a heavily optioned GT with Manual Trans., Navigation, Blue tooth, California Edition, Cold Weather Package etc with a sticker of @$35,000 I figure I should be able to negotiate down to $31,000 and the 36 month lease should run about $465 with taxes in the payment (tax rate of 8.625% in Long Island New York). So out of pocket at signing should be like $1,200 which is first month, bank fee andDMV.
Let me know if those numbers seem right.
Thanks and I look forwarddriving a mustang again.

RE: question about leasing a new mustang GT
well first off the lease rate in my area (detroit region)is 4.75 for 24 months 5.25 for 36 I believe. I found that with the residuals is saves NO money to go 36 over 24. I did however get a convertible and went 10,500 milesa year because this car is just an extra one. my residual is71% for 24 so subtract 1% for 12,000miles/yr.
as for what your wanting to negotiate that seems a little unrealistic unless you can buy either a or d plan. I bought a 37,710 msrpcar and the invoice was 34863.98
I bought d plan so the price was 33578 less a $500 rcl rebate.so the spread between msrp and cap cost reduction price was about $4,700.I put $1000 down plus first payment and my payment is 389 for 24 months I was surprised at how cheap the mustang gt's leased for. I get bored easily so I figured I wold do a couple of bolt-on mods and when it's time to turn in I will return to stock and sell any mods I've installed..
Keep in mind that residuals and lease programs are different in all areas and www.fordvehicles.com may be your best shot for getting the lease rate programs in your area as well as your local ford dealer. hope that helps ans good luck. If I can help in any other way please don't hesitate to pm me.
