Default 1972 mustang convertible

Hello everyone

In the process of buying a 1972 mustang convertible and the engine code is 351CID V8 (2v) can anyone tell if this is a Cleveland or Windsdor. Thanks

welcome to MFs... hope the purchase goes well for ya.. The quickest and best way to tell the difference between the two engines is by locating on the 351C the integrated timing cover casting on the block located in the front which had a radiator hose fitting.

Welcome aboard!!If you have a pic of the front of the motor I can tell you if its a Cleveland!!Look for a rad fitting down at the Timing Cover and also the Heads are different!!

Easiset way for someone new to Ford engines to differentiate between the 351W and 351C is look at the valve covers, the top (where the oil filler cap is) of the Clevelands are flat, while the Windsors are at a 45 angle.
