New member from Waterford, MI - '66 GT coupe
Hi everyone -
I've owned two '66 Mustang GT coupes for the past 16 years. I bought them both in my senior year of high school in 92/93. The original plan was to sell the first one (Red 289 A-code auto) after I bought the 2nd one (Burgundy w/ white Lemans stripes built 351w auto) but there was alwaysone more thing that needed to be fixed on the 289 car before I sold it soI still haveboth.
The 289 car is currently getting somepaint work done and I will be putting it up for sale when I get it back from the body shop. It's a nice driver, but far from concourse.
I drove the 351w carin college until it needed an engine rebuild. While I had the engine out I decided that I wanted to get it repainted. I made the mistake of having the bodymedia blasted down to bare metal and found a lot of holes filled with wire mesh and lots of bondo. I got all the metal work done right and had the car sprayed a beautiful deep blue metalic with white Lemans stripes, but at that pointmoney and time were in short supply whileI concentrated on finishing my engineering degree. The car has sat in peices for the past 8 years and I haven't touched it. I've beendistracted by other car projects for a long time, but I'm starting to get back into the Mustangs. The engine is ready to be re-assembled, but is still sitting in pieces stored in my basement. It's .040 over w/ 9:1 forged pistons and a fully balanced bottom end. ARP faseners on everything. The heads are mildly ported twised wedge. I forget the cam specs because it's been so long, but it isn't anything too wild and I have a set of roller fulcrum roller tip rockers too. Carb and intake options are still open.
I don't have any pics because I haven't driven either car since before digital camerasbecame standard. I'll need to scan some of the prints I have and post them.
