Default Newbie buying 87-93 5.0

Hey y'all!

I'm new to this forum, but it looks cool thus far. I'm looking to buy a 5.0 mustang between 1987 and 1993. This is not my first Mustang, I've had 2 before, and actually sold my 2000 GT to get money to buy my Wife's engagement ring. (boy was it easy to spend money when I was single).

Anyways, now that I'm married, I don't have the money to buy another new Mustang, so I'm lookin to buy one from the 87-93 generation. I'd also like to buy a convertible. So far, things aren't going to easily. I've gone to look at a few, and they've been pretty sloppy looking. One was clearly in a pretty serious accident (could tell by the poor body and paint work), and others are very high mileage, thus I don't want em.

What I'm lookin for from you guys is some advice. What should I be looking to pay? What year will be the best to buy? Is a good convertible going to be too hard to find at a good price? My max price is around $5k

Thanks,

Look on ebay, just try to view the car before you lay down the bucks

I heard of a very clean, mint GT convert went for 4500.00. I so wanted that car. Good luck on your search.

check out e-bay,your local paper, 5k is about close to what you'll fine in the avg. range...all will have high mileage in the over 100k miles in the 6-7k range you may fine a 50k car.

What is the ave milage expectancy of the 5.0 setup before you get into a rebuild of the Trans. or th engine? Head gaskets hold up good?
