Need some help guys/gals
hey i read the import topic stickied at the top and i can assure you i can appreciate a decent car no matter what the make/model, import/domestic. i just parted out my 2003 Mazda Protege5 (www.turboprotege.org) which was featured on MazdaUSA.com and some other places.
Anyhow, its time to move onto a new car...and since i just recently moved from a divorce, i have to stay around 16k or so to try to keep my payments in check. ive been looking at black 2000 convertibles (car must be 2000+ <60k miles so i can get financed through my credit union)...ive always liked mustangs even though im an "import guy". n othing beats the sound of hte mustang starting up. i love it when the car shakes and rumbles.
anyhow, the car is almost back to stock and im about ready within a week or so to start doin some serious looking.
any thoughts on the 2000 model in particular, or the convertible in particular? or is there a particular milage where the cars have a tendency to "crap out" or major parts screw up?
i only drive a manual so that should hopefully reduce the amount of auto tranny problems...also, i have in mind the SRT4 and the WRX but lately ive been leaning towards the mustang GT. im not here to debate why i should get the mustang over the other two, i already know everything about those other two cars...lets just assume for now that im only interested in the GT...

You should be able to get a decent milege 2000 GT for under 16K very easily. As long as the car was taken care of, they will last for a long time. Get the GT and you won't regret it. I have a convertible and I love it, but somtimes I wish I had a hardtop, its all preference. Any 99+ GT has PI heads over the 96-98 GTs, so you will be making better power. Go with a nice 99+ GT, you should def. find one in your price range. Good luck, and let us know how everything works out.

I think you can get newer than a 00 for 16K. got my 02 GT w/ premium package (leather, bullit wheels, and mach 460 6 cd changer) in june for $18K out the door, with 25K miles. A vert is gonna be pricier in the summer than in the offseason tho. not really any problems that I've found out, I've got 42000 miles on mine now. But you can easily get what you want plus cash.
