Formula to Mustang
Hey everyone, I am selling my 93 firebird formula and am looking into buying a mustang. I found one at a dealership today and took it for a spin. It is a 99 gt convertable 5-speed with 38k miles on it. The dealerships asking price is $13995 but the KBB value is around $12700. If I can get the stealership to lower the price down to its KBB value then I do plan to purchase the car. My question: Is there any specific problems or things I should check on the car that is a common problem? Are the convertable top motors reliable or do they burn out easily? And the most important question, How many people drive their cars in the winter? I live in NY and will not have a winter car this year so how do they do? I just cant wait to start cruising around in a convertable all summer. Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the forums!!!!! For all your questions check out the 4.6 forum in the tech area. You will get more responses to your questions. I wish I couls answer them all for ya but I do not know anything about the vert. motors. There are no real problems that you should check out, just drive the car, look it over real good, and if you can get them to lower the price to waht you want pick it up. As far as driveing them in the winter, just be careful. Good luck!!

Welcome! Sounds like a pretty good deal, but I'm sure you can come down on that some, especially since it's a bit older.
Don't know much about the verts-- check out the tech forums on that. However, I drive my car in winter as well and it's not bad at all. I've only gotten stuck once, just make friends with people who have F150s!! lol. A lot of caution and weight in the trunk will get you through it just fine.

Not working out as I had planned. The dealer was actually asking $14995 but I got them to $12650 on friday. I applied for a loan with 0 money down and was supposed to hear back today but it turns out I was denied. Dealer told me to come back when I have money to put down on the car. Driving by the dealership on this bright sunny 70 degree day and seeing it top down infront of the dealership again makes me want it even more than before. My ad in the classifieds to sell my formula starts wednesday. I just hope the formula sells fast so the mustang doesnt get sold. Very dissapointing day.
