Default Need an Experienced Mustang-Owner's Advice

Hey. I'm looking to buy a Mustang. I'm pretty excited. I'll be getting the 1999-2004 model (Standard 2-Door Coupe, because not that's all I can afford). I have been doing a little research about problems the Mustangs have had but I can't get any clear responses. Do y'all know of things I should keep an eye/ear out for as I test drive so I don't get stuck spending too much money on maintenance? Thanks in advance and I look forward to discussing my experiences down the road.

Ask to see their maintenance records. Ford gets a bad rap compared to Toyota and Honda (for reliability), but people don't realize that these cars can last a long time if they are maintained properly.

I recently bought a 2004 V6 and was in the same boat you are in...I couldn't find much as for parts that commonly went bad. Make sure you check maintenance records and have the vehicle inspected. If it has a manual transmission have the clutch and transmission checked out well.

The 01 gt models with the 4.6 had probs. with oil leaking from the passinger side head. I had this issue with my 01, and found out it is common in this year model. It is a real PITA to get fixed....thank God for ext. warranties!
