which is the best?...i say hard top...most convertible mustangs or i should say majority of convertibles weigh more than hard tops....coz hard top supports the main body (unibody construction)n holds it as a support for the wholecar ..as for the covertibles...the body should be stiff enough (frame type =means more weight) to hold the whole car... i want yur comments...tnx..

well let me say it's easier to stiffen up the 'vert than to peel the top off a hardtop*L*

You're right about convertibles weighing more. About 200 lbs. more on a '94-'03 Mustang. Basically it all depends on what you want. I have a convertible, and it's pretty nice in nice weather and warm nights, but the tradeoff is top maintenance, and I think road noise in a convertible is a bit more than a hardtop. You can expect to replace your top every 5 years, possibly more if you take good care of it. Other than that it all comes down to which look you prefer. Some people like the look of a hardtop better.

convertibles are just not some peoples style though. it seems too "show-off" to me. not griping bout em, just saying why i wouldnt want one.

i have a 00 gt convertable and its awesome. but the thing is it doesnt go as fast as the 00gt hardtop. if you wanna go for looks and a cruse-around kinda ride (even street race) then convertable would be nice. however, hardtop are good if you wanna race and stuff.
