Hey all, I just bought a Mustang :http://members.***.net/budmantom/Stang.JPGit's a 96 gt, I guess it's not the best year as far as performance (oh well).

Guess I'll search some posts and see what kind of mods give life to this gt.

Welcome to the forums! Really the best thing to do for your stang would be a PI head and intake swap, but thats gonna cost ya more than a cat-back or set of gears. Other than the heads / cams / intake youve got the same motor as the 99+, as a matter of fact you would put out MORE power than a 99+ with the swap because your compresison ratio will go up a tad.

All the other bolt-on mods that you can do, like full exhaust, cai, timing adjustor or chip, underdrive pullies... add them all up and you will get more hp cheaper by going with a used PI setup. Good luck!

Would the PI head and intake swap be off of a stock 99+ gt?

sure would budman. i've been told the 01 + is best, as you can use your stock valve covers. just remember to get heads cams and intake. i'm getting my setup for $450, hopefully i can meet up with the guy this week. if i get it done here soon, i'll post my experiences/results.

Welcome. The PI head and intake swap is a great place to start, since it will put you on par with the newer 'stangs. It doesn't cost too much, and you can even get ported PI heads with the intake for about $1300-$1400 which will gain you more power than stock PI heads. Personally I would spend the little extra dough and invest in ported heads while I'm doing it, but whatever you prefer. With that setup, you'll be ready to surprise the new stockers and enjoy the look of disbelief on their face when you pull ahead...
