Default Newbie - Washington DC

Hi ya'll -

I just purchased a white 2004 GT with 34,000 miles, a one owner. The GT is stock and pristine. I have some questions to ask of the more experienced members.

1) I bought a Carchex extended warrany - any one have any experience with Carchex or extended warranties?

2) The GT did not come with remotes so I purchased some (Autozone) and can't seem to program them. I followed the instructions but the GT won't go into the program mode (door lock/unlock). Does that indicate a problem with the ant-theft system?

3) Are there any specific failures that I can expect to happen soon?

This is my second Mustang. I had a 1969 GT in the 70's... I am 60 yo and have been wanting another Mustang. Took my time and found a good deal!

Thanks for any help!

If your car is equipped w/ a factory entry system, you'll have to get them from Ford. Generic brands will not work.

Congrats on the new car and welcome to the site.

Thanks for the welcome -

I did get the remotes programmed. I was turning the key back too far. I bought one at Autozone for $65, and ordered two from Amazon for $11 each. They are identical and have a Ford part number. They all work.

The headlights were not aimed properly so I aimed them last night. The passenger side seemed loose - is this a common problem? I had the radiator, engine and transmission flushed and am using 5/20 Mobil Syntheic. I wanted to establish a service baseline before driving it to the farm in Georgia..

BTW - I paid $9225 for this one-owner car with 34751 miles on it. I am still thinking there is something wrong with it that I and my mechanic missed....!
