New from Oklahoma!
Hey people! Just thought I'd introduce myself!
Two days ago I bought my first Mustang... a 1968 Coupe. And I'm thrilled to death! It's got some work to get it road worthy... being a 68 that's no surprise.
The headlight buckets, grill, lower front bumper, rear bumper and all the trim are off the car. The wiring needs to be redone. The Interior needs to be overhauled. Needs to be repainted, has some surface rust that should be easy to get off, and only one bad rust spot is in the rear window area... which shouldn't be hard to fix. The front window needs *Though not really necessary* to be replaced cuz of a ding and two scratches, the driver side seat is tore up, the gauges only work when you turn on the brights and the suspension needs to be fixed though its not really that necessary(You feel all the bumps in the road). The only working window is the driver side, the other windows don't roll down and the passenger window is held up by a wooden block. AND the brakes need to be replaced and bled... NOW THE GOOD!
The Body looks damn straight, the engine is a working 302 *The car originally had a 289 which I deciphered from the VIN* with an automatic transmission, the tires are good and BAD rust is at a minimal! The windows are all there and the passenger and rear seat are in good condition. It's got true duels all the way back. AND the seller gave most of the new parts to put on the car... There are just a few parts I need to buy myself to get it at least back on the road.
Just some observations that I've noticed... I think I may need to change a gasket or two in the engine because sometimes it smokes when I turn on the car and rev it... Though it could just need a good tuneup as it was sitting for 6 months before I got it. But I may try to change a few gaskets when I tune up the engine anyway for preemptive measures and to get it out of the way.
Oh yea! And he threw in a Haynes repair manual for first Gen Mustangs!
As well... There is no power steering, which I saw as another thing I would need to change*Making it power steering* And then I thought... Well Hell! If I leave it as manual steering, no one else would probably want to drive it therefore no one would ask!... But People will still probably ask to drive it... I'll get pictures of it up soon!
Oh yea! I payed 1600 for it... and I consider this my first REAL car... *My other two cars were both first gen Eclipses which one engine blew and the other I sold a few years back*
THANKS!
