New Mustang Owner saying Hi
Well, I guess here is where I introduce myself...
My name is John and I am an overnight merchandiser at a Home Improvement warehouse.
I have wanted a mustang since I was old enough to know what cars were... A few weeks ago I had my chance.. My dads boss wanted to get rid of a few cars he had cause he just got married..
He offered me a 1988 FoxBody GT Mustang with the 5.0 High Output, 5spd for $800... I couldn't pass it up.. It is in really good shape, needs a few parts here and there but the body is solid the frame is good and the clutch and tires are new!!! I plan to restore it all the way, though I am having a hell of a time finding a working AM/FM Cassette deck for it, got one on Ebay and the Radio worked but the faceplate didnt light up the LCD panel was dead and the cassette deck motor didn't turn..
I made a post in another topic cause I had problems with the distributor but thanks to a member response I got the help I needed and got the engine running... (which by the way when you think you have the normal V8, and then check the VIN code and find out you have the HO it explains why your ignition was all jacked up) Firing order is different for 5.0 vs the 5.0 HO... I really had no idea what the difference was but I saw the two motors side by side and they don't look exactly the same...
Anyway, I am really glad to find a website with so much info and I can't wait to get to know people..

I am not sure what type of mustang it goes into but there were 2 engine vin codes for the V8 Mustang.. It's the 8th digit in the Vin Code for 88.
E
&
F
E= v8 5.0
F= v8 5.0 HO
I found the information though Mitchel on Demand, the shop I tune and work on my car at has it, and since I know the owner I can use the system almost anytime.. The haynes manual I got showed the ignition firiing order for the mustang as one thing, but when i went to M~O~D it showed the sequence for both VIN codes and turns out that I have the HO motor and the firing order from the repair manual was the normal it didn't say anything about HO...
