Hello all

This is my first post on here and is going to be very broad. Please don't own me.
I have been a Honda guy for a good 5 years and just recently decided I wanted to try something different. I really know nothing about mustangs and was hoping to join this site in order to get steered in the right direction. I was hoping to get a mustang here for a platform to try something different.
My main problem is, I have no idea where to start. I really like smaller cars so I was thinking a foxbody hatch. My other thought was a 1st gen. My dad had a 66 back in the day and I thought it would be cool if he wanted to help me build it.
All in all, I want a platform that will be the easiest to build/find parts for. I really don't want anything newer than the fox bodies though. I'm not much into newer cars.
Also, I need some steering to where to start as far as what engine will be the best.
Once again, sorry to be so broad. But hopefully the fact I'm turning from honda to you guys will help you help me along.

Welcome, there isn't much you can't do with a fox body, that would probably be the best choice.

Cool. Well I guess it would be nice if I had any idea where to start as far as research. Is there a write-up somewhere on atleast choosing an engine?

I would like to see 12's and still streetable. Maybe 11's

Welcome.we have a 5.0 general discussion/ a whole 5.0 section which is about 90% fox guys. i would look around there and do some researching. your goals are a fairly easy task for a fox many members are in that et area.

edit: check this thread for info, its a list of current timeslips of members. this will give you an idea of what runs what, just skip the first few posts, it does get going. https://mustangforums.com/forum/5-0l...ip-thread.html
