Default Well I guess this is where I belong..

Lol well I am new here, thus my post..

Well my names Curt, I'm 19 and just bought my first car, a 1981 Mustang Gl fox. I currently drive my parents 1990 Escort Gt, that you can see that is sad in the background of the first picture..

She has an '87 302 with about 35-40k on the engine but mabey 100k on the body or so. The body is fairly clean, paint is not the greatest, that will have to be done sometime.

Shes currently 1 straight pipe and 1 glass pack they are wire hung up so it looks dumb.

Her interior is shot lol. Under the hood its completely dirty, so greasy and grimy its hard to find where shes leaking from.

So far I have put in a new Holly Aircleaner, and redone powersteering(but shes still leaking there no room for tools to get them tight). next I have to get some 5 lug rotors and redo the front tires so they match.

Is there anything I absolutely have to do for dramatic horsepower increase?

As I'm working on this yesterday, I come to the realization I should stick with computers when I'm done with this car lol..

Here is my list for what I am wanting to do. This is no certain order, its just what ever I come up with lol..

1. Exhaust (tell me what to do. I'l probably buy some 5.0 H.O. headers for $15 to get put on, what should I do the rest of the way back)

2. Tint (legal in nebraska is 35 front 20 on back would that be good?)

3. I'm wanting some 4.10 gears for the rear end.

4. The wirings a mess so I'l have to do that as I go along.

5. Interior is shot. I'm planning on ripping out the back seat and custom building a sub box to fit there..

This is just off the top of my head that I would like to do, any Ideas?!!?!? please tell me comment me here, message me, Add me on Myspace, Facebook, Msn, Aim. Drop me some input please!!!

If anyone has any tips for tricks to help me along with this journey please feel free to tell me lol! I'm completely open for comments and criticizing that you all have.

Welcome to the forum! Nice to see another person from NE joining the forum. You will find all the info you need to help answer your question in the appropriate section. But as far as tint goes, 35% is nearly unnoticable. You would be better off getting 10-20% on the sides and 5-10% in the back.

Thanks alot guys!

You think I should go like 5-10%? but we have very strict cops around (columbus). but the thing is that they are tinting their own windows at like 15% mabey lol..

I also have another question concerning the rotors. Currently on the front of here there are the 4 lug rotors, well I don't want the 4 lug, I want the 5 lug so they match. And so I don't have to go through and buy new rims and new tires for all 4...

So my question is, will 5 lug rotors from a 95 mustang fit on my 81?

please respond I'm needing to switch them front wheels as soon as possible, they are like doughnuts the previous owner put on..

Welcome to the forums! You'll get better responses if you post your questions in the technical sections. Good luck to you!

35% is not worth it. Almost can't tell it's there. I think with 15-20% you will be ok but if you think the Cops in Columbus have nothing better to do then pull people over for tint, then get the legal limits. Roll your windows down if you see a cop or don't give them a reason to pull you over. Just my .02
