Maverick guy saying hi
Hi everybody,
I have a 1973 Maverick with the 250ci six (hence the user name) as a summer/fun driver and a BMW 525i as a daily. I want a daily with the same straight line acceleration and Ford quality and simplicity as the Maverick, so I am looking to get rid of the BMW as soon as the work (and my wife) allow and pick up a Stang...I am really looking for a Fox or Modular 4.6.
Looking forward to getting back to a live axle; I'm not sure what all the Internet hype about wanting a Mustang with an IRS is about, live axles simply add to the unique feel of the car and provide non-squat acceleration.
Never thought I'd come back to Ford, but after driving an '04 4.6 I can't resist the rumble of a big V8 and longer I'm a DIY guy and there is simply no comparison between working on a BMW vs. a Ford...Germans add so much electronic crap (my '89 BMW has FIVE MPG displays) and I would rather be driving than spending time in the shop.
Hope to learn a lot here....

Mine has a 3 on the tree, but a single carb FTL (think all of those sixes do). 1/4 mile at around 70 mph. The car is such a pleasure to work on, and from what my shop manuals say is very similar to the Mustang II.
