Newbie from Switzerland
Hi all,
I am new to this forum. This is my very first post and I hope it will appear where it should :-)
Anyway, I recently bought a brand new, 2010 Mustang GT Premium in Kona blue. As most of you may know, Mustangs are not exported to Europe, meaning, I couldn't simply walk into a Ford dealer and buy one. I had to find private channels to import it.
I have imported a model built for Canada to have the speedometer and odometer in metric units and thus to conform more closely to European standards. Well, the transport, the import taxes and modifications which had to be done on the car to make it road-legal in Switzerland increased the price tag by almost a double. I do not care that much, 'cos I finally have my dream car.
I am not planning to make any modifications to my car. On the contrary, I will do my best to preserve the car in the way it was when I got it. There are so few Mustangs in Europe that only owning and driving one makes you well distinguishable from the rest of the motorists. Besides, I would probably have a difficult time to find tuning parts here.
The reason to join this forum was to connect with other Mustang drivers and learn from their experience. Since there are so few Mustangs in Switzerland (and Europe) I have no one to ask if an issue arises with my car. I think Ford is making a big mistake not exporting Mustangs to Europe. You wouldn't believe how many people approached me and told me Mustang was their favorite car, but high import taxes, lack of official dealer support turned them down.
Cheers
