Default Maybe buying a Mustang

Hi everybody.

After toying with buying a Mustang a few years ago, I think I'm ready to buy. I was considering Challenger, Camaro, and Mustang, and believe I have it figured out.

Here's what I'm looking at:

Option #1 2010 GT, new, MT security pkg, HID lamps, comfort pkg, 19" aluminum whls, 3.73, exterior accents (GT coupe pkg 5) MSRP is $36715...they're asking $35715 and 5 yr 0% financing if I give up the rebates. Of course they said there's no room left on this, but I wasn't in there to buy and didn't press

Option #2 Used 2010 Ford Mustang GT-Premium, 5 speed manual, Premium Trim Package, (RS401A), Track Package, 19" painted-aluminum wheels, 3.73, Comfort Package, Interior trim package 552 miles. This was originally purchased a year ago, and is not at a Ford dealer. 552 miles in one year? Hmm,.,,Carfax shows no accident, but isn't this suspicious?

They're asking $28735...haven't been in to talk to them yet.
So I'd lose the 0% but still could get a decent rate with good credit.

Option #3....Roush Stage 1...listed for $36k..

Option 4...just dreaming...Roush 427R @ $46k

Option 5...wait for a 2011, but miss out on the 0% end up at 4.9/5yr...and prolly pay MSRP

Option 6...buy something older and have an easier payment in the $300-$400 range.

I have a 2005 RX8 that I may trade, but if I do, I'll have to buy a Auto Trans Mustang, since the wife can't drive a MT. So, I'm really hoping to keep that and but something for myself

How much room do you think they have in option 1?

And what about a year old car with 500 miles on it?

I'm so confused.

Thanks

I just picked up mine, 06 GT with interior upgrade, all the mods I wanted, 40k miles in MINT condition for $15k, some guy just got the same car with 18s and only 10k miles for $16k.

I thought this was the only way to go, but I keep reading about the 2011 and I want it moar and moar.... if I could have afforded it I would have just waited!
I love my 06 though!

To me the price is way over priced for a '10 when the 5.0 is around the corner 27k should be the max you pay! Just wait a couple of months when the 5.0 is here the dealer will be giving the '10 away!

welcome

Option 1, not sure of the dealership and their situation, ex: how long they've had the car, how many they have on the lot, etc.., but they should be able to better than $1,000, JMO.

A year old car with 500 miles isn't bad. Many members buy used cars all the time with more miles than that on them, just have to judge the over all condition....whether it was a typical 500 miles that got put on it or was an extremely hard 500 miles

Well on option 1 there's definitely room, they're dying to get rid of the 2010's with everyone knowing what's coming in the 2011. If you can afford it I'd say go with 2011 because as long as you can afford it then you know you're not going to regret it, but with it being so much better than the 2010 you might regret the 2010. On the used one with 500 miles, if they're giving you a good deal on it then there's nothing wrong with that. We had someone trade in their 2009 with 416 miles on a 2010 haha and if I had bought a 2009 and had the money to do that I probably would have done the same thing, the 2010 and 2011 are beautiful... Of course not when they did it though cause they did it after the 2011 specs had been announced, man they're gonna be pissed lol.

Thanks everybody for your input. I went to see the used 2010 today and it was beautiful. Grabber Blue. There's some question about whether there is actually a trac pak tho, and the salesman said they have the build sheet but no window sticker. He said I could go to Ford and they could tell me exactly what it had. ??

I love the interior accents. This car was a year old and still smelled new. He said he'd do it for $28k. For a 2011, I'd pay what....for a GT with similar equipment....$38k? If so, I could do alot to the used 2010 with $5 or so.

I feel I'm getting close. The payments on the used 2010 would be manageable, where I still have a few years left on my wife's X5, and 4 years left on a work van. I can easily put $5k or so down and be in the $425/month range...vs $625 for a 2011.

That way the wife gets the RX8 and I get what I want

Just thinking out loud
