Default I don't have one yet.

Hello all. I have wanted a mustang for the longest time, but have not been able to get one because of my wife(kids, impractical, gas, blah,blah,blah..). Anyway, I have finally wore her down enough to get her to give in. I have a 2002 Subaru Outback now that I am looking to trade or sell. I am just not sure what mustang I should get. I want to keep it under ~$18k or so. I want something fast that I could possibly make faster without spending a great deal of cash.
I like the looks of the 1994 to 1998 body style and I know I could get them fairly cheap, but they would have higher miles than something newer. Obviously it has to be a GT. Is the 2000+ models much better than the older ones?

thoughts?

It has to be a commuter car as well. The gas mileage is not too important, it couldn't be much worse than what I'm getting now. I am only getting about 20mpg.

Another thought, should I consider getting one with mods already? for example.http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...ng=&cardist=24

the 94-95 GT had the 5.0 hp?
96-98 have the 4.6 and 220 hp
99-04 4.6 (16v sohc) with 260 hp

i'd try to find a newer GT, mach 1 (4.6l 32v dohc) or 99-01 cobra

Welcome! Check out all the different tech forums and read up on the different models and what opportunities they have. I'm sure that'll help you with your decision.
