New member, might be a new fox body owner...
Just thought I'd poke around the forum as a newbie!
Really though I'm here for some quick advice. I'm not new to forums at all, and I'd regularly head to the Search function for all my needs (since I bet what I'm going to ask has been covered millions of times) but here we go;
I've got a PT Cruiser GT. Taking it to the track, I've managed putting this car in the 13's, keeping in mind I'm still on the stock turbo and stock exhaust manifold. If I swap in the ported exhaust manifold, install meth injection, drag radials and bigger injectors I'll see easy 12's.
Here's where I need help. I'm looking at a 1988 Fox Body. From the pictures it looks like an LX (front bumper doesn't drop as low, no fog lights, LX lights all around) and it's a convertible but with the 5.0 HO engine and 5-speed transmission.
Assuming the engine is in good condition (it's never seen forced induction nor nitrous), what mods and how much on average would it cost to bring this Mustang up to par...assuming it's stock as well?
Owner of this car is interested in my PT since he has too many cars and doesn't favor the Mustang much at all. I'm interested in his Stang cause I've loved Mustangs for more than a decade.
The obvious answers I expect is intake, headers, and exhaust. But what about cams? A/C delete? Get rid of the 20" Cobra wheels? (lol) What else would I need to look at?
Also, how reliable is the block and transmission if I wanted to go forced induction?
I don't know what kind of tuners you guys use, but as far as 'how to tune' I can deal with that. I tune my PT with a Diablosport Predator Tuner via datalogging and modifying my own tune so forced induction isn't new to me.
Thanks for any info, and glad to be part of the forum! Just can't wait until I'm an official owner.
If someone suggests I just say no and take a look at a different year/model (preferably within 5-grand range since I'm selling my car and/or trading it) do let me know!.
PS Pics added are of the Mustang I'm inquiring about.
Crappy phone pics, but I've yet to see the car in person. Soon...
