07 Mustang - Tungsten Grey Metallic 4.0
Hi, Everyone. My name is Walle, and my 07 mustang v6 convertible seems to shift too soon. The engine appears to have a ton of power, but no matter what (except flooring the gas pedal) - my tach never seem to get above 3000 RPM. Would you recommend an SCT/similar tuner to change the shift points? The ones I've looked at are very expensive - Any ideas? I'm thinking of a CAI as well. Would the tuner be required for that as well?
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forums, but this is the wrong section to post this thread. Technical question do not go in the new member area it is simply for introductions.
That being said, any cold air intake that is going to give you a performance gain is going to require a tune, here is a link for a hand held tuner:

All cold air intakes, are basically the same thing performance wise, so you can pretty much choose one that is the most aesthetically pleasing for you.

We're going to need more info about the car, but from what you've said I'd maybe guess your car is going into "limp mode", do you have any check lights? The other suggestion I could make is try giving your throttle body a good cleaning, as those dirty TBs are known to cause erratic rpms...
Does the car start ok? Might be a problem with the auto tranny, but I have never really heard of them malfunction in this manner. I wouldn't suggest throwing aftermarket parts at it, until you get this problem squared away.
More power could usually compound the problem, but the tuner seems like a logical choice as it can identify and clear trouble codes for you. However autozone will do the same thing for free.

2007 Mustang V6 Auto - Shifting too soon.
Thanks to those who have responded, and I'm sorry that I posted the thread in the wrong forum. Is there a way to move it, or can it be deleted?
As far as the tuner/programming aspect of the topic, perhaps I didn't explain it properly. I think that the 07 Mustang V6 auto is behaving the way stock should...in other words, docile and tame. By the time I get to 45MPH it's like in 3rd or 4th gear and I wish it hadn't shifted to those gears yet as the revs drop way down when it does. My goal is to not shift as soon into those upper gears if possible. If reprogramming will solve that, I'm good. There doesn't seem to be any tuner around under $350 or so. I've looked at SCT, Bulldog something or other, etc.
Thanks so much.
