Hello all - GT owner from Maine
Hi MF and Merry Christmas!
Like a lot of people, I've been browsing the forums and salivating over the many photos from the classics through current models. This site has been an absolute fantastic resource for me, so thank you all for sharing your knowledge, suggestions and opinions.
I bought my 2009 GT Auto a couple months ago and have been loving it since day 1. I turned 30 this year and decided it was time to trade in my 4 cyl. Escort and buy something that would turn some heads. For my budget, the obvious answer to me was a Mustang.
I was ecstatic to find exactly what I was looking for, and it's been a blast driving it daily. Our first snow came in October, and I still had the stock Pirelli tires on. I could hardly go anywhere, as it would just sit and spin. I had to push myself just to get out of the driveway! lol. I was a little unsure how I could survive when full-on winter arrived, but I'm relieved to tell everyone that after putting on 4 studded Firestone Winterforce tires, and adding a couple buckets of sand in the trunk, I'm having no problems at all so far. I put about 90 miles on the 'Stang today with slick roads and driving in a snow storm. I admit, it was a lot of fun passing by trucks and 4WD vehicles, imagining them wondering how in the world this muscle car was plowing down the road.
For me, being behind the wheel of an American icon makes me feel like a king, and am glad to now be a part of an online community filled with newcomers and guru's alike.
I'm already looking forward to Spring and starting the long journey of car mods. I'm going to be poor for a long time...

Thank you, gentlemen.
Most people said I was crazy to drive my Mustang in the winter, but with the right tires, I'm impressed with the performance. I do have full interior/exterior damage protection on it, but it would be nice if I could pick up a "beater" vehicle for winter next year, to make sure it stays in top condition.
I plan on having this car for a long time.
Next year I'm looking at adding a CAI w/ Bama tune and 4.10 gears, though I haven't yet decided which one to do first.

Welcome from a fellow Mainer!
I got my 2010 v6 in March of this year and I know what you mean about getting stuck (I got stuck in MAYBE a 1/4 in snow)
I love the car so much I hope to get a 2011 or newer GT next spring...really looking forward to it.

Thanks Minion! Nice to see a fellow Mainer here.
A 5.0 would sure be nice to have and if you get one, I'll be instantly jealous. lol
I was due for a new car, and it was the right time of year to buy. I got my GT with 19k miles on it, perfect condition, and paid about $21k, so I snatched it up. The car salesman called me maybe an hour after I drove off the lot and said "You barely left the lot when someone else called about the car. Lucky you!"
I've been very happy with my purchase.
