Default New to the Mustang

After years of dreaming about owning a Mustang I finally decided to buy one for my 24th birthday. I picked up a 1999 Base with the 3.8, 5 speed. Not to familiar with working on Mustangs but I'm here to learn. Details include 164,xxx miles, Dual Flow master exhaust, and CAI. Runs good Interior is mint and Exterior is decent (just normal wear). I paid $2,400 which I think is a decent price. This is a second car that I use daily for work and put maybe 70 miles a week on it as my wife drives a primary car. I would like to turn this into a Weekend Warrior along with keep it street legal. My buddy has a 69' Camaro and is swapping a LS into it. I know it'd be hard to compete with that, but were both very competitive and I 'd like to try to keep pace along with staying some what budget friendly. I've been reading this forum day and night since I've bought the car and plan on doing a 4.6 2v swap I found one locally for $1,000 only includes engine, and transmission, all out of a 99' GT with 88,xxx miles. Now I've read different swap threads and used the search like crazy. But I'm still not 100% of what all is needed. Some threads I read I only need motor, transmission, engine bay wiring, and ecm. Others I read I need complete car wiring harness, different rears, different struts, different clusters, ect, ect. Can someone please point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it and I look forward to learning all I can!

Thanks,
Kurt

Been looking there but from what I was searching never really found any decent how too or what was all involved/needed.

I tried searching for 4.6 swap, 3.8 to 4.6, ect. everything that was coming up was dated 2009 and later.

congrats and welcome to MF.Since they're both 99's it shouldn't be too difficult of a swap.

Welcome. I hope you find the info you need, but like everyone said check and post again in the 4.6 section. Either way if and when you do the swap you will then be the SME. (Subject Matter Expert) Don't forget pics.
