Got mine on saturday...need help!!!!
I recently went to an auction and sold my 2000 chevy impala. (the engine was about to go in it, it use to be a cop car.) I left the auction with a 1995 Mustang Convertable!!!! :-) On the drive home it ran great, but as soon as i got into town, problems occured :-(. Needs a Coolant flush because someone put water in there, just recently got the water pump replaced cause when i pulled into town the water pump started smoking. Needed a transmission flush. and the muffler needed to be looked at (my dad thinks theres a muffler leak, but i thought that was how it was suppose to sound).
Went to a private mechanic and after he replaced the water pump, he stopped with the other repairs, he noticed there wasn't any coolant flowing through the engine, and said it's seems like it had been a while since any has. He notified my dad and said the car wasnt worth fixing cause the head gasket was blown (i paid 1200 for the car) and i heard a new gasket runs about 1200 to 2000 dollars (with so called "professional" labor costs added) . So i go to shoot pool at a bar and a good friend says "We've been good friends for a while, and if the heads arent worn, he'd replace the head gasket for FREE!!!!!!."
So i have 3 questions. Is a head gasket for a 1995 ford mustang, v6 3800 fuel injected easy to install or will i need a hoist?, What are all the parts i need for my friend to fix the head gasket? And, with the (no coolant flowing through the engine for a while) would this car really be worth fixing? Cause it seems like the gasket is the only major problem with it. Remember, it was running fine til we noticed this gasket problem. Even having my friend fix it for free, i know the parts wouldn't be cheap, but id hate the have this car (all white with red and black interior) go to waste.

Sorry for multiple posts but to answer your questions you will not need a hoist, you will need intake manifold gasket set and valve cover gaskets and of course your head gaskets and i would go ahead and replace both since your already in there
