Default Newbie and question

So I'm a newbie and have a question and the answer is probably more lengthy than I want to know. I'm looking to get my first mustang next year. It will definitely be a project/weekend/seldom track car. First project car also.

I'm looking at either a fox body 5.0 90-95 or the 4.6 SN95 96-02. I've done some research on both and I'd like some input or recommendations. The 5.0 is a bit nostalgic to me (weird-I'm 27), but I worry about the pushrod engines from what I've read and am unfamiliar with them as everything I've ever known has been OHC.

I'm a novice when it comes to mods, but I want to learn how by doing and being from a Ford family, I've always wanted to have a pony and do this. Long story short, Fox 5.0 or SN95 4.6 for first mustang to mod?

Thanks for the welcome. I've been reading the other sections and other forums for about a month now and just looking for feedback from people that have done it. Like everything I've read, they'rre pros/cons to either one, I just don't want to read til I'm blue in the face. That's all.

Welcome and don't fear "Old School" horsepower and dependability.

The fox bodies are getting pretty long in the tooth nowadays, so keep that in mind. Finding one that's in good shape that hasn't had the dog snot ran out of it might be a little tough. That said, the old 5.0s are a little easier to work on and the aftermarket has been around for years, so parts are typically cheaper. Either is a good choice, so I'd look for whatever you find in the best shape.
