Default New Here, and With a Question Already!

Hey everyone.

Brand new to the forum here, I just wanted to say hello (and to ask a question!).

So admittedly I have never owned a Mustang (I'm still in my teens), but I was hoping to maybe pick one up soon as an upgrade from my 150k-mile DOHC 1999 Taurus. It would be a daily-driver. Anyway, I saw a 1996 Mystichrome Mustang that appears to be in good condition today, and I'm very tempted to buy it, or at least give it a test run. However, it has 92k miles on it (again, I wouldn't buy the car as a collector's item...it's probably lost the collector's value already anyway), and I don't know how much it would be worth. The owner is asking 7.5k for it...and I feel like with the research I've done that it would be worth around 4-5k...if that.

So how much is a 1996 Mystichrome Mustang with 92k miles on the odometer worth, assuming that the 'Stang is in at least "good" condition? And one more thing...I would obviously want to check the VIN to make sure that it's truly a Mystichrome, not just a paint-over job...so how would I be able to tell that it was an authentic Mystichrome?

Thanks for any help, and I hope that I didn't create too much of a wall-of-text!

welcome to the forums.... I've seen New Edge GT's and pretty decent condition (99-04 Mustangs) for that much money. IMO the car is most def overpriced.. GL!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the emblem on the grill is a Mustang, not a Cobra...anything to be concerned about?

Welcome. What's your price range? I wouldn't start off buying one with that many miles on it. Your going to run into problems early

Thanks for the welcome by both you and Soldier.

My price range isn't very high (maybe 6k max) due to the fact that I'm 18 and not exactly rich, and quite frankly the only reason why this Mustang pulled me in is because of the Mystichrome. It's good that you mention the problems thing, because I can't really afford to have anything happen except for tune-ups and basic care. Before I saw this particular Mustang (and read about it online afterwards) I was either wanting to go with a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 or just stay with my Taurus. Mind you, my Taurus has been extremely reliable, but...it's boring, and it gets about the same MPG as a SN95 Cobra or VR4 gets.

6k could be hard to work with if your looking for a good reliable mustang. I waited 2 years after I got my license to get my mustang. It was worth the wait. Then again I got it when I was your age
