Welcome to the forums. Like others have said the stock 8.8 on your 09 is plenty of strong for now. They are built from the factory with 31 spline axles. I made about the same power you did with my 06 and never had any problems with it. It had over 100 passes on it, and 108,xxx miles when I sold it.

The rear end is the same for the most part. Your only real difference is the GT500 heavy duty pinion bearing. Its still the same 31 spline axles, seals and everything else. If you want a stronger rear end, it can be built for much cheaper.

So IMO I would say no, there is no need to buy a new rear end assembly just because it says its an SVT. You would spend a lot more money that away.

Alrighty. So you think the stock one will last even if I do some more power upgrading? And lets say it does blow, would you suggest a 9in moser and build on it?

How much more power are you looking to make?

The 8.8" is pretty strong. If you're that worried about it, just buy the rebuild kit and rebuild the one you have since you say it's leaking.

No need for a 9" unless you plan on back halfing the car and making 1600+ hp. There are guys running around with north of 600 hp and not having any problems.

Like I said, I made around the 480 mark with my 06 and never had any problems from the rear end.
