Question brake lights inop

hello everybody, I'm new to this forum. I have a 2002 mustang V6 convertible. I am looking for someone who may be able to offere me a little technical assistance. recently my car wouldnt move out of park, not knowing much about it, I forced it into gear. I had no Idea that it could be brake light switch. I rode like that for a number of weeks untile I realized that none of my brake lights were working. so I read some of the threads and found out how to change my brake light switch. I replaced the bad one and it was cool for a couple of weeks. now the same issue. I just installed another one. because the shifter was hard to depress again. the wires were shot again but this time it didnt last long at all. my fuses were intactwhich makes me wonder why the wires are geting so hot. wouldnt the fuse blow before it cooked my wires? my question is this, has anyone changed there shift interlock switch? could this be the reason my brakes arent working?

Yes, the shifter interlock switch may be causing your issues. I have never changed one but it should not be to bard.

+1 on that. Also post your questions over in the New Edge section. You will get a lot more responses.
