Hi Guys and Gals
New to the forum but have already picked up lots of good info that has helped me sort some minor issues. A quick intro.
English born but reside in South Africa, car is a 65 fastback 289, originally manual but at some stage a C4 auto fitted, Edelbrook manifold and Holley carb, tubular manifolds, not sure what HP, but at Johannesburg altitude and an auto box it's no pro street car, but will hit a genuine 110mph on the highway.
I've just purchased a Borgeson power steering kit, if anyones interested i'll post a review of the installation when completed.
Theres a slight time difference between us so any replies may seem a bit slow.
Regards
Graham

Ballast resistor
Hi Guys
Can anyone tell me if this is a ballast resitor in the attached picture, I have fitted plenty of electronic ignitions in the past, but I cant get this one to work, either wiring up as having a ballast or bypassing the ballast (that may need a different coil, but there is nothing written on the coil). I've only ever seen ballast resistors on old motorbikes so just wanted to check if anyone can recognise this sucker.
BTW how do I post a new thread?
Cheers

I'll try and get a better picture at the weekend, it's the small grey block the the right of the coil,Ii think power comes from the ignition switch to this block, then to the + coil, my problem is I don't know if that is a ballast resistor or the wire from the ignition is resistive or if I can just bypass it with a new wire from the ignition, if I use a different coil.
Thanks

Hi Guys
Attached are better pictures and a diagram of the current wiring, to recap, I'm not sure if the block to the right of the coil is a ballast resistor. When I instal the electronic ignition as a per the ballast resistor diagram the car fires but will not run. Does anyone know if I can bypass the resistor? I also cant trace the grey wire.
Coil is a Magfire 40Kv
Cheers
