Question 1970 conv.gas smell help holley carb

I am a new member. I have owned my 70 Mustang conv since 1971. It was maintained by a 35 year friend (nascar mechanic) Car had a rebuilt engine (302) built by one of the leading nascar teams, four barrel holley. He decided one day to become a thief and stole my engine and tranny.
Ins. did cover most of the costs, and I had another Nascar builder build me a new engine (302) and tranny. Four barrel holley. The car now has a huge gas smell, so much so that I can smell it going 35 mph , as well when the car is in the garage and turned off for days, so it must go outside, or I will have to get a divorce from my wife if I cannot get it corrected, or sell the car, neither of which is an attractive alternative.. I am not a mechanic, and not really very adept at much under the hood. I have had two mechanics look at the car, and neither can find any leak, but both indicate that they think the holley is the culprit.... I would appreciate any help i can get ... By the way, the police were not interested in prosecuting the thief, eventhough he did the dame thing with a kit-cobra. Many thanks Bob
