Hey guys, just posting up the normal "New Guy" thread. Just bought my first mustang, a 2000 base model with the 3.8 and 5-speed. All around solid car, no real rust and most wear items (clutch, tires, belts and fluids, ect) have been recently replaced/changed, the only big flaw was that the clear coat was bubbling off. (previous owner was deployed to Iraq and then Afghanistan so it got its fair share of sun abuse while in military storage) I'm actually going to try to repaint it here pretty soon.
I just got rid of my last project car which was a 1996 Thunderbird that I swapped a 351w into it and kept the EFI. It had an M5R2 5-speed out of a wrecked SuperCoupe and a welded diff. I had built it for drifting.
This car I don't plan on going that insane, It will keep the motor and five speed, but later down the line I'd like to try a turbo kit. As of right now I'm trying to hunt down a 99-04 8.8 rear end with 3.55 or 3.73 gears. (3.73 preferred, unfortunately they seem to all cost an arm and a leg now so beggars can't be choosers.) Hopefully I'm able to find one, that's the only immediate upgrade I need so I can get the trak-lock. So far everyone has told me if you have fun at all with you're car the 3.73 kit for the 7.5 is absolutely worthless.
Anyways, end rant. I will hopefully have more to add. Perhaps I will be of help to some people on here, I was a Ford Tech for a dealership before changing careers, and I've been bent under the hood since I was a little kid in dad's shop.
Have a good day
