Default please help me pick a Mustang

Hello,

I am stuck between two cars: first is a 2012 Mustang GT/CS auto, absolute mint condition, second is a 2014 Mustang base GT (brand new) with 301a package and 6 speed manual. Both cars at similar pricepoints...2012 fully loaded, with electronics package/nav/sync/shaker audio, 13K miles...
Not sure which way to go! I'm sure I want a GT, is there any significant differences between the 2012 and 2014 model years? Which would you pick? I think I would prefer stick to auto...Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Warranties? Price difference?

I would imagine the 2014 would have a 2-year better warranty which for me would be huge. Re-sale value would be considerably better too.

The extra gadgets on the '12 probably don't add up to all that much if you went aftermarket to put them on the '14. I just put a sweet Pioneer double-din dvd headunit & dash panel with DVD/Pandora/USB/Aux/Backup camera/Bluetooth/Phone and upgraded speakers in my 12 for around $600. Adding GPS to that would be about another $300.

Differences are almost negligible, except for tail lights and front end, and the '14 has a more modern display in the instrument cluster.

Welcome to MF! I personally would choose the 2014! I definitely prefer stick over auto but its all your preference. I'm also a sucker for the 2013-14 tail lights LOL. What colors are they? Also I noticed you were from Ohio! Don't forget to make a thread in the Ohio Regional Chapter and meet all the guys!

Agree with the stick over auto transmission choice. IMO, the manual works best.
Just think of all the mods you can make to a 2014, base model GT.

Plus, you can go around saying your car has 420hp instead of 412, lol. Go with the '14 then you wouldn't have to worry about previous owner miles.

And as an added bonus, the '14 is the 50th MY.

I think if the price difference is not that much, i think you should probably purchase the latter version. If you change your mind and want to sell it off, 2014 model will definitely fetch you more bucks.

Thanks to all for your input. This will be the last car I buy for some time so I want to do it right! I'm still deciding but leaning towards the 2014. I like a manual trans. The 2012 is absolutely mint, flawless...The guy who traded it in took immaculate care of it. I also test drove a used 2013 Camaro SS but it was obvious that it saw some hard use. The new 2014 base GT I drove rode much better then I expected- super smooth yet firm and tight on turns. Manual trans, with base GT wheels and all season tires means more year round functionality. Also, it makes sense as was mentioned to replace the head unit and dash panel- easy way to get nav. I drive a lot and think this car will outlast anything else out there and will be inexpensive to repair compared to other cars...

Oh god yeah get the manual. Then you get the pleasure of shopping around for the really kickass suspension upgrades for her.
