1966 mustang engine energized

hi all i have a 1966 mustang that i put on a carb and adjusted the timing on jack stands running nicely. when i took car off jack stands to back out it wouldnt start went click. Battery is good 12.7 now the problem is everything is energized. I took a test light to carb and it lights up " yes it is hooked to neg on battery side and point to carb" the whole car is energized here is what we have done.
1 removed starter solenoid tested it works good
2 removed ignition switch still hot
3 remove light switch still hot
4 voltage regular still hot
5 unhooked distr still hot
6 starter still hot
the only time we loose light is disconnecting main power from firewall, and when we pull the dome fuse with ignition switch out as soon as the ignition switch is hooked up engine is hot any help we havent tried

Welcome, but I would post this question in the appropriate tech forum, you'll get alot more answers. This forum is for new members to introduce themselfs.

But I'd start at checking the grounds, and ground cable. 1 bad cable or connection can really screw with your car. Good luck
