I would say, go with whichever one you would like the LOOK of more. If you like the 66 better, visually, go with that one. At the end of the day, you will always be able to drop a V8 into it and redo the interior however you like. Plus, I would be willing to bet that you would be able to talk him down on the price, and that's always a bonus $$$
