New guy, Help me pick!
Hey guys, I am Jonathan Wright. I am going to look at 2 different mustangs this week and need help deciding which to get. I had a 66 in high school. I am trying to decide between a 65 with a 6 cylinder and a 67 with a 289. I really do like the earlier body styles better, but i would obviously like a v8. they are both 5000 dollar cars. both drivers.
here is the link to the 67.

rust in the normal places. but thats ok. i am looking for a car i can drive and fix while i drive.
here is the 65

he has it listed as a 66 but its obviously a 65, I went and looked at this one already. new paint job, which isn't great. rusty floors . needs interior. I know I can talk this guy down a bit too maybe enough to cover the new interior.
again, i am torn because I much prefer the 65 body lines. but the 67 might be a better car i know the guy said the 67 has a clunk when you shift it into reverse and that the rearend gears might need to be shimmed or replaced. I am pretty mechanically inclined and am not afraid to do the work on these but i just want the most for my money. its just gonna be a daily driver. and we will probably do a real restoration on it when my little girl is getting ready to drive.
alright fire away!

I know nothing about the repair work needed on them... But strictly on appearance and taste, I like the 67 better. With those models I would personally place style over engine, as the classic look of the car is going to get more attention than the motor I think. But the fact that the 67 also has the 289 is a nice bonus...

Given the same price I'd go with the '67 for sure, it has the 289 and the interior is a million times better.
If the six banger car was a lot cheaper then it would be a good one if you wanted to do a motor swap and some resto work.

welcome
If you like the lines of the earlier models better, that's the one I'd say go with....you knowing that you'll be able to talk him down will be a bonus to put you in a better financial situation for restoring and doing future work.
