New from NJ
Hi everyone, I've joined this forum because I think it might be a great place to help me make a possible decision. As shown on my profile, I have a 2002 Corvette Z06. Its the first "hotrod/sports/muscle/fast" car I've ever owned. I come from a family of car lovers, watching the Car Hobby sort of from the 'outside'. I purchased the Z on the advice of a friend, a long time Corvette owner, and I love the car, especially since it enabled me to become a full fledged 'car guy'.
Over this time, I've learned more and more what my 'niche' in the car hobby is, and that's American Muscle. However, I've also learned, with 4 grandchildren, (2 very close by), that the 2 seat limitation is a problem at times. I'm also not feverishly brand loyal. In the 50 years I've owned (or been owned by) cars, I've had from soup to nuts. My favorite still remains my IHC Scout2, with the Corvette 2nd. There's a number that follow in 3rd.
Anyway, due to my eclectic tastes, and my preference for a new/newer car, I'm seeking advice/info about the new generation of Mustangs. I've loved Mustangs for years, especially the newer ones. I have a few questions:
Should I wait for 2015?
There are lots of models on the Ford site, and the differences in packages to me, are clear as mud.
I require the rumble of a V8 and a clutch on the floor, a reasonable ride, no teeth jarring.
FWIW, I've had some track time since I got the Z, loved it but a good friend (instructor) was killed at Summit Point a couple of months ago, and I've decided to retire from that great fun. AutoX and some drags are still in my future.
One of my greatest concerns is buying something with options I may regret down the line. How do the various performance packages affect everyday use?
I've also seen a number of low mileage Roush versions online that 'seem' to have good prices. Would they be punishing to drive on a daily basis, since this car will be my daily driver?
Thanks to all!!
