Default Getting back in to the hobby hopefully

I am looking to pick up an 88 gt. Looks good so far I need to go see it in person. I am between a bone stock for $6,500 with 80k. Or a modified 88 gt with 130,000 miles. Modified has the following: 347 stroker, msd ignition coil. Tuned to put out 370 and 407 tq. Lowered. Welded sub frames. 03 cobra wheels with 5 lug conversion from sn95 with rear discs. Camber plates. An ac car. New weather seals.

Stock original tranny and clutch for now hopefully it holds up to that power for a while. Cervini's functional ram air hood, wing, and stalker bumper. Mass air conversion with cold air intake

Which would you guys buy and is it a good deal?

If I buy stock, I will be doing same upgrades the modified already has.

Your thoughts please....

Thanks in advance,

Any additional advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Andrew

Wow....$6,500 for a 1988 Mustang???? That is insanely over priced.

Kbb only goes back to 1994...but a 1994 Mustang GT is valued around $2,300.

If I was to buy a Mustang that was heavily modded I would not pay much more over stock. That car has likely seen a lot of heavy use and you have no idea what sort of condition the engine is in.

Do a classic kbb or classic nada value. It is average of $6,500 and great is like 9.

1988 is not a classic in my book. I hold firm that there is no way I would pay that much for a nearly 20 year old Mustang.

Are both cars $6500 ? While a little overpriced, we all do the same thing. You can always come down in price, you can't go up once it's advertised.

Your call on which one though, if your looking for a toy then I'd like the modded one. Someone stuck some money into that car, so it's like your getting all the mods for free. Plus with that kind of power, that's going to be a car that will put a bigger smile on your face for a longer period of time. That's if everything is in good running order, and has been maintained.

Stockers are nice to see, but their a lot funner to drive modded.

Good luck

We'll the modded one is out of the question. It sold. Guy was a dick!

Due to our schedules we couldn't meet until Wednesday and I know the nature of the beast is first come first serve when it comes to cash. However, I had cash. And we agreed on Wednesday and he was going to hold it for me. He asked for a deposit and I agreed and asked how much. He never got back to me until an hour later and said oh it sold! I'm glad I didn't give that tool my money. I get wanting to sell it but don't tell someone you'll hold it. It was probably ragged on anyway.

Sorry had to rant. I was really disappointed in this sale.

I am leaning back at the 88 gt.

How hard is a mass air conversion?

Sorry to hear that, but it also means your car is still out there is somewhere. Plus that car probably didn't have any oil pressure and 2nd gear was about to go lol.

Mass air conversion is a plug and play with some splicing into the main harness. Google it or search this forum and you'll get a "step by step" if you dig for it. But you don't need it if your plans are to keep it stock, or lightly mod it. Speed density can take some modding.

Thanks a bunch! I kept telling myself that! Haha no pressure and 2nd gear grinding. I am going to look at the stock 88. Looks clean and the motor is spotless.

It doesn't have power doors and windows. Again this is not a priority but it would had been nice. In the future should I want those amenities, aka my wife! Lol is that a possibility?
