Mustangs are not fuel economy cars. You might want to consider trading it in for 4 cyclinder / hybrid car.
I had a Camaro SS and I was getting better gas mileage everybody else is getting better mpg than me all I'm asking is is there something wrong with my car or is it because its brand new?

Its not very accurate, give it some time and hand calculate the MPG for best results.

You can also reset that mpg-o-meter thing with each fill up (or even each time you drive) to see if it increases...this is assuming you have not re-set it since you got it.

I didn't, and I think I'm gonna calculate the MPG myself next time, thanks

I did a calculation and I'm getting 17 mpg which I still think its odd... I expected highway/freeway to be at least 22/23 mpg

You need to give it more time. I think I improved about 3mpg after the first 1000 mi. I have a 2014 GT and I get about 16.in the city.

I've heard rumors that the car has a special break-in program that runs the first two dozen key cycles or so.

Probably, I had to reset the mpg and turned on cruse control now I'm getting 18 mpg ... if it didn't change I'm gonna take it to dealer and have it checked.

I get 22ish city, and 25 highway in my 14 GT MT, and I have driven it hard for over 14k miles. I actually got my best mpg's last weekend at 26-27 through flat parts of colorado/new mexico/texas/oklahoma, so I think either it needs to still be broken in (possibly harder than what you are doing, aka drive it like you stole it), or you are driving it harder than what you think you are doing. There could be something wrong, but you aren't really going to know for a few thousand miles... if you get to 3-4k on the odo and you are still getting teens for mileage then talk to the dealer.
