Default Tires for 2008 GT with factory 18" wheels

Hello all I am new to the forum. I have an 08 GT with 18" factory wheels with 235/50/18's on them. I would like to go to a wider tire with the factory wheels and was having a hard time finding anyone that could provide some guideance.
Can anyone tell mee where I can go to see what the widest tire is that will fit the current rims without making the tire look deformed? Or even have some experience doing the same thing I am trying to do?
Thank you in advance for any advice.

Welcome to the forum.

You should start a new thread in the tech section for this question, or just use the search as I'm sure someone has asked this before. Good luck

You first should figure out the width you desire. To do this you need the rim size. The first number after the P is the width of the tire in millimeters. Generally you want a tire that is 30mm wider the the rim width or more. Simply take the rim width (this is in inches). The second number in the tire size is whats called an aspect ratio and is a little trickier. For instance a P195/65R15 has an aspect ratio of 65. This means 65% of 195mm is the distance from the rim to the tread. The general rule of thumb is as the width gets larger the aspect ration should get smaller if you are trying to preserve the general diameter of the wheel. TIA doesn't recommend a variance of more them 3%. This is generally to preserve the accuracy of your speedometer. There are many websites that have tire calculators that will allow you to compare tire sizes to find the best fit. I like the calculator on 1010tires.com. I hope this is helpful but if you need more help message me. Oh and welcome.

I wouldn't go any wider than a 255.
