New Memeber 64-1/2
We had not been married long when our neighbor with 5 65-66 Mustangs put one in my lap. He found one more his wife would not let him have. SO I started my Mustang project. That was 35 years ago. In those days you could walk into junk yards all over Ohio, and south & unbolt treasures for pennies. It took about 5 years to complete my 64-1/2 convertible.
I removed everything & replaced with NOS or repaired. Some previous owner (teenager) replaced the pumpkin and engine to be more able to peel rubber so finding a 260-8 and the correct rear end was the mission. I found a motor but it was a basket case. I had access to a lot of shop & machines so in the end, port & polish, CC and spin balanced. It has new pistons & re-bore, new rings, bearings, timing etc. It was great to hear the noise when it first started. I drove locally only & took 3 kids to drive-ins & drive-throughs for shakes & fries.
Last fall, I took it up 131 to Traverse City for storage at the summer cottage. The dog, big standard blonde poodle, rode shotgun. She was cold so wore my down vest & leaned into me. From behind, petite blonde with hair blowing in the breeze. People passing slowed down to snap photos. Lots of laughs. I haven't found any of these on line yet but still hoping.
Fall out from the rebuild is a 1966 vintage 289 if anyone is looking. I'm tired of moving the thing.

Sure like to find a home for the old 289. Its been parked between the furnaces for 22 years. Good re-build for the right car. Running when it came out.
We have been packing to move & recently ran into the photos I took 40 years ago when the 64-1/2 rebuild was done. My wife lounged over the hood in a red slinky nightgown like a vintage advertisement. Caused a bit of a stir in the neighborhood. Sorry, scanner is not working.
