Hello. I recently purchased half of a 2003 Mustang 100th anniversary coupe for my daughter. She's paying the other half.
The car has about 250K miles on, and it broke down 10 miles from the Birmingham auto auction from which I bought it. Engine started making noise at 70mph and oil pressure had gone to zero. Fearing spun bearings, bad oil pump, etc, I flatbedded it to a shop near me. They found the timing chain tensioners/guides had come apart and went into the pan. They installed new oil pump, new timing gears, guides, etc. Cast iron stuff.
So today we pickup the car. The CEL (Check Engine Light) does not work at all (hmmm... someone covering something up perhaps?). That will be my first order of business to find out why the CEL does not work. The shop said there is a "miss" around the time the trans shifts from 2nd to 3rd. That will be my other order of business to resolve.
The only other known issue with the car is that the power window on driver's side does not work, and the 6-disc changer number buttons are worn down - they look crappy. Minor stuff I know.
So I will likely be asking for some help here. This is my first Mustang in the family ever. However, in the garage is a 1968 Fairlane 500 w/6 cyl 200CID. I used to have a 1968 Galaxie conv with a 70 Mercury 429V8 that I restored. Other FoMoCo's in my history include 1976 Marquis and 1998 Towncar (drive it daily).
Glad to be hear. Thanks - Walter
