Transmission won't engage after reinstalling
Hey guys what's up I'm new to this and I need advice I have a 1988 gt, I bought already fixed up, but body is not in great shape had it for a while now, now I just bought a 91 gt perfect body and interior plus a/c and but blown motor, so I said I would take out my motor and tranny fr my 88 and put it in my 91, in doing so I said why not I minus well replace leaking rear main seal so had to take tranny off, this was my first time messing with manual transmission, by the way it's a tremmec , I installed everything back together and put it in the 91, car started right up but transmission won't go into any gear and grinds reverse now the transmission was working just fine I drove the car right before pulling it out, I winded up putting a adjustable cable after reading threw some post but didn't work, when the car is turned off I can go threw all the gears except 5th but when I turn it on it doesn't let me go in an any gear, if I put it in gear and try to turn it on car jumps toward, can some one give me advice or help me it's driving me nuts maybe I did something wrong, hoping I don't have to take it off again

Well at first that's what I thought since I used the factory cable clutch, and my other mustang had an adjustable clutch, so I went and bought a bbk adjustable clutch and adjusted as tight as it can be and it literally made no difference

how bad did you smash the clutch disk when mating the trans to the engine? if you didnt align the splines, and you had any trouble getting it flush with the block, you may have damaged the disk. either way somethings up with the clutch, so pull the trans and inspect

Yeah it sounds like that's what I'm gona have to do, sucks cause I have to take it all apart again, I'm just hoping I didn't damage anything, any other suggestions or thugs to look out for before I pull it out

not really, thats about it. something you did or changed is the problem, now its time to look and see what it is

Make sure you are getting enough movement on the release fork. I thought you said you tightened it up as much as you could. That doesn't sound right. There should be a little play when the pedal is at rest and you should get movement in the release lever when you press the pedal. You will need a helper to verify this.
