Default Fuel Pump keeps kicking off!!

Hey guys i’m a new member, and i recently bought my 99 4.6 Mustang GT. it’s been a great car so far until my fuel pump went out, i replaced it, turned the fuel pump switch ON and the car ran fine. Well, today i was driving on the interstate, and was in 5th gear. I hydroplaned prettt hard and the car grabbed hard left, and immediately after the car started bogging. The fuel pump switch was turned off. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks!

There is a safety switch in the trunk, called an "inertia switch." This will cut power to
the fuel pump if it thinks it was in an accident. The abrupt shift left may have just
triggered it, thus cutting power to the fuel pump.

Do you keep having to reset the switch every time it shuts down?

What I mean is, when the car shuts down; If you do NOT reset that switch, then
it won't run?

If so, something is popping the switch, it's like a breaker. Bypass the switch
for testing. Pull the harness off, and place a paper-clip jumper in the car side
of the harness. Secure it so it won't short on anything, then run the car and
see if it shuts down again. If so, then it is not the switch.

Then something is kicking off the switch. It's an inertia switch, so it's not
a breaker, so it's not a short or anything. I would install a toggle switch
in parallel with the the inertia switch so you can bypass it.

Splice the switch in parallel with the two wires to the harness. When you toggle the switch, it will bypass
the inertia switch, and the pump will always have power. When the switch is off (open) then the inertia
switch is in control.
