04 gt motor swap into 97 gt
Hello everyone,
I’m new to this forum and wanted some technical info as to how to go about this swap.
I know there have been a lot of threads about this topic before but I want to be absolutely sure about everything that is needed to perform the swap. I own a wrecked 04 gt with a kenne bell on it. I also have a 97 gt with a misfire in one cylinder.
The situation i’m facing is the following, I want to swap the entire 04 engine with transmission and all into my 97. The thing is I want to use the COP ignition setup but retain the return style fuel system of my 97. Is this possible? I know I need to use the 04 engine harness to convert to COP but do I need the pcm as well? Also, I am aware that pre 99 mustangs had 2 etc sensors. Is it absolutely necessary to reuse the driver side ect sensor or is there any way around it besides tapping a hole into the manifold? What does this sensor control anyway? Fan operation possibly?
Sorry for the long thread but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
