Well, when u look at a v6 stang, stock they are pushing maybe 200 hp, and are alot heavier than my seven. My stock rotary pushes about 140 stock, with an exahust, electric fan, and direct fire my car could be pushing close to 200 hp. As for V8s, throw a turbo on a rotary engine, put a holley or weber carb, and a good exhaust and the stang will be in trouble. The rx might lose, but itll still put on one hell of a fight. And as for running 9000 rpm, ive done about 8500 in mine, whihc is stock, throw on an alternator fan water pump ect that can handle that many rpms and easily the eingile willmake it. If you make thecar race only, not streetable, they idle at like 6000 and people run race rotary engines up to 15 thousand. But then its nto really a car anymore. With a bridge por and street port u can easily take these engines to 9000

As for what jeep said "The main reason that Rotaries are so fast for their size is because for every RPM it fires a combustion off 3 times." It is either worded wrong, or he mixed up his info. The rotary engine spins the eccentric shaft, the equivalent of your shaft, 3 times for every 1 rotation of the rotor

I think what he meant was that there are 3 combustion chambers in each rotor,so on a two rotor motor there would be 6 combustions for one revolution of the two rotors. On the standard I4 engine it fires twice for every revolution of the crankshaft.

Well on a rotor there is still only 1 combustion chamber for each rotor.

My wording my have been a little fuzzy, but correct in a sense.

Take a triangle, equilateral. Now, "roll" it 360* on a table. If you notice, by the time the peak has rolled around to it's original position, all 3 sides have touched. Imagine that triangle being the piston on a rotary.....the sides all pass through the combustion chamber once during a single RPM....meaning that when each side does so, a boom takes place.

RX7.....dude, I know that the rotaries are potent little ****'s. Don't get me wrong there. However, I think you need a reality check and need to quit magazine racing. When I talk a boosted V8, I don't mean a puny 5.0L small block ford, I'm talking BBC and 427 teritory with boost. The rotary doesn't stand a chance against it.

I've got nothing against the RX7, in fact, it's one of the two Asian cars that I would drive and not be ashamed of it...the other being an RX8.
