I have been using

Oil Analyzers Inc. http://www.oaitesting.com/

did you see the zinc levels of our used oil?

there are still some oils on the market that have the pressure additives that the flat tappet cams need.
no need to add any product to your oil.

good deal. ill finally be changing the oil in my DD at least next week.

i ended up not doin the traveling i thought i would be doing and didnt want to change it just to change it.

hopefully after i change it at thanksgiving ill have the report back shortly there after and we can see what the blackstone labs report looks like compared to yours for readability.

not sure if ill be doing the mustang at this time though. hell i think that oil only has 1k miles on it. granted ive been going to change it extra frequently since its sat so much over the years (only has 30k miles on original motor/trans and its a 65)

ill prolly change it next spring when i get it out to drive rather then changing it and lettin it sit all winter

if you want to know how much life the oil had left in it, you need them to do the TBN , total base number , that is a extra 10 bucks I believe , but if you were trying to see how long to run your oil , that is a important test.
the lab I use does the tbn for free on all samples, so that makes the oai ones cheaper.

good to know.

maybe ill order up some of the OAI lab bottles then.

main reason i was going to do BL was they dont charge you until you send it in.

OAI charges you when you order the bottle

The higher Zinc and Phos in the racing oil will protect those flat tappets for sure. That's also what I love about Amsoil's street oils, they retain higher levels of both to minimize engine wear (versus comparable weights in competitive brands).

I am going to see if I can get one of the other teams we race with to submit one of these.
