So Ive been doing alot of research on engine oils and ran into this link, beware, it isalot of information, but if you guys care about your engines, read throught it!. But basically Mobile 1 did the worse out of most other engine oils half the price! This is what advertising does sad to say. I think im going to be switching to Royal Purple very soon.

Those sorts of tests are interesting and impressive, and if done correctly do indeed show the comparative wear protection of the oils tested, however what is not revealed is how the test relates to the real lubrication needs of an engine.
The authors state this on the first page:
"Other tests" could be corrosion protection, long term viscosity breakdown, high temperature performance, and a whole slug of other characteristics more important to internal combustion engine operation than film strength.
Also, just because product A offers better wear protection in the test environment does not mean that level of protection is needed in real life, or that it will prolong engine life.
If one tested gasolines for anti-knock protection then 93 octane fuel would offer far better protection than 87 octane--however if you were running a stock tune on a stock engine the only effect of buying 93 octane would be additional lightening of your wallet. Which frankly is what folks like RedLine, RP, Amsoil, and the other of that ilk specialise in--that and getting magazine articles published that "prove" their superiority in selected (but usually just one) characteristic(s).

Wasn't Royal Purple in a load of trouble not too long ago for false advertising? IIRC BP took them to court and beat them. I maybe wrong, but worth looking into or digging back up before everyone jumps on the RP bandwagon.

Yup, it was last April--Truth in Advertising: BP v. Royal Purple...
The same criticisms could be applied to Amsoil, and to lesser extent Redline, as well...
But none of that means that RPs products are bad--just that there is no evidence that they are any better than anyone elses. I use RP SynchroMax in my transmission and have been quite pleased with it, however the choice was made only because I had a "dealer price" source for it--that source is gone and I will probably use Mobil-1 ATF next time...
