Proper amount of oil 2010 4.0 liter mustang
I have had my car overfilled by dealers in the past... i.e. past the top hole in the dipstick
As I understand it... if I drain my oil and replace the oil filter I should then put five quarts of oil in my engine. This will give me an oil level somewhere between the lower hole in my dipstick and the upper hole.
The last dealer I went to put more than five quarts and the oil level sits at the top hole (actually a tiny bit past). The owners manual states BETWEEN the holes is fine. I have had a few oil changes and most of them leave the level at the top hole or various degrees above.
I would think that the dealer would just put in five quarts and leave it at that.
Any thoughts?
