Since Earnhardt died, what's the point?

LOL, Earnhardt was the rich man after his first championship....makes that statement rather irrelevant.

I guess that's why he won his first in '80, then not another til '86.

Okay, I'm not going to go any further with this. It's a ridiculous comment.

Earnhardt had twice the sponsor money when he racked up his victories and in the mid 90's when competition had stepped up 10 fold he had virtually vanished from the Championship hunt until his last season, still winning only 1 race and finishing 2nd in points. Other teams put up the same money & more as Goodwrench and RCR lost it's choke hold on the series...

The talent that has recently come into the series is absolutely frightening, Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart, Brian Vickers, soon to be Kyle Busch...not to mention Gordon, Labonte, Jarrett, Marlin...Nextel is bigger, better and stronger than it ever has been. I don't see how Earnhardt's death ruins the sport?

I never said it ruined the sport, just for me. I'm sure you probably know tons more about NASCAR than I. I still don't know how the competition has recently stepped up. Many great legends, are legends b/c they raced years ago. Many had big name sponsors then.
